I don't know about you but I feel such a compelling by the Holy Spirit to fast. There is so much at stake right now in our faith life, in our country (USA), and in our world.
On Monday, January 4, at sunrise we will join as a community to fast to bring about breakthrough. This is a full fast from solid food through sunset, January 8, 2021.
Why does fasting create a spiritual breakthrough.
The one sin that caused upheaval in heaven and on earth was/is PRIDE. Satan arose with pride and attempted to overthrow Yahwey and he deceived humanity. It is pride that creates division between humanity and God. Pride is at the core of satanic teaching. It's all about self.
Fasting creates humility. It is a physical display to our Lord demonstrating our willingness to submit a basic need that drives a tremendous amount of daily activity in our lives.
When we lay down a basic need of our physical body, we are communicating to God that our hunger and desire for more of Him, is greater than the driving forces of our body. This is truly one of the greatest acts of worship we can offer our King.
One of God's favorite people was Moses. God says this about him. Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth. Numbers 12:3
Fasting is humbling. It's removing our self – the driving need to eat- and placing that basic need as a sacrifice on the alter of God's remembrance.
AND GOD REMEMBERS.
And my friends, a day time fast is good, but there is something that shifts in the spirit after three days without solid food. AND for the super brave, after 11 days. We are told by Jesus that some spiritual breakthroughs only occur with prayer and fasting.
So, right now our county- America, we are in need a breakthrough of epic proportions. We must be delivered from the hatred, the child/sex trafficking, the prolific drug abuse, the broken families, illness and disease, distorted identities, on and on and on…..
WE MUST FAST. We have no other alternative. So, right now decide… It takes a decision followed by a relentless commitment.
Go buy yourself some broth, OJ, some protein drinks and store up lots of good water because it's not easy. It's really, really hard. But difficult breakthroughs require significant sacrifice. It's just how the Kingdom rolls.
Let your fasting compel you into prayer. Beginning Monday January 4th we will do some cleansing prayers… I hope to offer cleansing prayers all week. Because a spiritual clean up is something we all need, me included.
I'll also offer some prayer prompts for our country, cleansing of our homes, our soul, etc.
